Of course, many teams have the need for their own permanent office. Although we try to be flexible in responding to demand, unfortunately we cannot accommodate all requests for this. If you are interested in a permanent office, please contact us to get a place on the waiting list.

Our aim is to provide early-stage support until your start-up can afford the rent on the conventional office market on its own. Offices are allocated for a maximum of one year. For teams that have not yet officially founded, the office is free of charge. Start-ups with a legal form receive the office as a so-called de minimis grant, so there are no real costs for this either.

Since we tend to have larger offices in the Collective Incubator, two teams usually share an office. There is always the option of using the flex desk areas and the flex offices in addition to your permanent office.

Equipment

We equip the offices with a large height-adjustable desk and an ergonomic swivel chair per workstation. In addition, we are providing a 27" monitor in 4K resolution with a choice of HDMI, USB-C or DisplayPort connection, as well as a wireless charging spot for inductive charging of smartphones.

The offices will soon also each have a small meeting corner and acoustic panels for better sound insulation. In addition, each office has a whiteboard or flipchart.

Each team will also have at least one lockable sideboard for files and other sensitive items.

We adhere to the workplace directive when it comes to the number of workstations provided. We are aware that some of the offices could be more densely packed, but we are not allowed to do this in the public sector for legal reasons.

<aside> 💡 Please do not move any inventory to other offices (tables, swivel chairs, monitors). They are inventoried and assigned to a room. Otherwise we will not be able to find the equipment during the regular inventory checks.

Access

Access to the permanent office is via the same digital access as to the CI Space. So you can get in and out independently 24/7. Members you add to your team in the CI Cloud automatically get access to the office. While access to the space is activated immediately, it can take 1-2 working days to update the locking rights for the office.

Printing, WiFi, Ethernet

There is a high-capacity colour laser printer on each floor, which can be used on a fair-use basis. Instructions for setting it up and using it are posted here.

<aside> 👉 We ask you not to take advantage of this service and to use it responsibly. The printers are financed from tax funds and are available to start-ups and student initiatives as part of our funding programme.

<aside> ♻️ Please make use of the possibility of declaring prints as black/white printouts in the Windows, Linux or macOS print dialogue. This ensures that documents that contain a colour at any point are not counted as a colour print (also applies to many shades of grey). A colour print costs us many times more than a black and white print.

There is eduroam WiFi available throughout the building. Please contact us if you or a member of your team does not have eduroam access data. Guests can also use the RWTH-guest WiFi.

If you have devices that absolutely need an Ethernet connection, please contact us. The use of Ethernet is only possible after prior activation of the MAC address and the Ethernet port. However, due to limited capacity on the switches, the use of Ethernet is limited.

Mailbox and confirmation of business premises

If you would like to receive mail via the Collective Incubator, please contact us. We will set up a mailbox for you in the mail distribution locker. The postal address is different from the physical address:
